Alberta's conventional oil and gas supplies are declining, and relying solely on current methods of production isn't an option. We also want to do more to protect the environment, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving our valued water resources.
Every year, Alberta Innovates - Energy and Environment Solutions invests in research and innovation aimed at clean energy technologies which will advance our energy sector and meet world-class environmental standards.
Sharing the risks associated with challenging research and development projects encourages industry to make advances in innovation development that wouldn't be possible without our funding. This strategy was developed with input from various stakeholders and other government departments, including Alberta Finance and Enterprise, Alberta Energy, Alberta Environment, and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development.
